Course Outline

Cur síos D’fheilfeadh an cúrsa seo do dhaoine a bhfuil staidéar déanta acu ar an nGaeilge cheana féin, ag léibheál na scoile de ghnáth, ach a bhfuil dearmad déanta acu ar a gcuid Gaeilge ó shin; nó do dhaoine nach raibh suim láidir acu sa Ghaeilge ar scoil ach ar mhaith leo tabhairt faoin nGaeilge a fhoghlaim anois ar chúiseanna éagsúla agus iomadúla.  Leagfar béim sna ranganna ar an nGaeilge labhartha agus múinfear an ghramadach i gcomhthéacs ábhar an ranga.  Bunófar an cúrsa ar shiollabas A2 de Theastas Eorpach na Gaeilge (Ollscoil na hÉireann, Má Nuad).  Ag deireadh an chúrsa beidh an rogha ag mic léinn scrúduithe a dhéanamh chun cáilíocht a bhaint amach atá aitheanta go hidirnáisiúnta nó d’fhéadfadh mic léinn an cúrsa seo a dhéanamh ar mhaithe le suim phearsanta agus gan na scrúduithe a dhéanamh.  Bronnfar teastas tinnrimh orthu siúd a fhreastalaíonn ar ar a laghad 80% de na ranganna.  Más mian le hiarrthóir tabhairt faoi scrúdú T.E.G. bheadh táille scrúdaithe i gceist anuas ar tháille an chúrsa thuas.

Description This course would typically suit people who have studied Irish before, most likely at school level, but who may have forgotten their Irish since then, or those who perhaps did not have a strong interest in Irish in school but who now wish to learn Irish for a variety of reasons.  The emphasis of the class will be on spoken Irish with elements of grammar taught contextually.  NUI Maynooth’s Teastas Eorpach na Gaeilge (T.E.G.) A2 syllabus will form the foundation of this course.  At the end of the course students will have the option of taking examinations to achieve internationally acknowledged certification or may simply prefer to take these courses for reasons of personal interest and accomplishment and not sit the exams.  On completion of the course a certificate of attendance will be presented to those who have attended a minimum of 80% of classes.  There is a supplementary examination fee for those who choose to undertake T.E.G. examinations.
