Press Release: More ‘Power’ to Tipp FM in Business Person of the Year Award
Apr 12, 2010
St Patrick’s College, Thurles recently presented a major business award to Ethel Power, CEO of Tipp FM. In attendance were academic staff and students of its established BA Degree in Education, Business and Religious Studies.
Ethel was chosen for her ‘outstanding contribution to business’ which was also recently acknowledged in Tipp FM’s nomination for the upcoming All-Ireland Marketing Awards. A Tipp-native, Ethel joined Tipp FM in 2004, having left a stunning impact on the financial fortunes of Dublin Zoo as its Commercial Director. She is presiding over a period of sustained growth to 83,000 listeners per week, making Tipp FM Ireland’s second most successful local radio station. Her Tipp FM-branded ‘swine-flu’ mask achieved fame across the country and huge publicity for the station prior to this year’s All Ireland hurling final. The premise that the mask could protect against both swine flu and (Kilkenny) ‘cat-flu’ was lauded far-and-wide - from the Sunday Business Post to Tipperary fans. Ethel’s impressive CV includes time as Youth and Education Officer with Fine Gael and Head of Communications at Ryanair.
